To Muslims who wonder
Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated in his Musnad that the prophet (pbuh) said:
"The Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it when He wishes to, then it will be a Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided) on the method of the Prophethood, it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a hereditary leadership which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if he wishes, then it will be a tyrannical rule, and it will remain so for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood, then he kept silent."
To my dear brothers and sisters whom I dearly love in Islam, assalamu alikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
I started this post with a hadith of the prophet (pbuh) where he recites to us the events after his death. The events, where all have come to pass except the last. To my dear brothers and sister in Islam, why are you shocked and confused when your brother states that there is a need of an Imama today? Indeed the Muslims all agree on two things; that our past under the Khulafaah was a glorious past and that our present under the current regimes is horrid and disgraceful state. On the general scale, no two Muslims will argue these two points. At the same time, however, the image of the Khilafah to an average Muslim is a far away fairy land, something we read in stories, some past of heros long gone and never to return. The image of the Khilafah in our minds is that of something that existed several thousand years ago, never do we actually stop and think that it was only in 1924 that the Khilafah was officially destroyed by the Allies.

My dear brothers and sisters, as Muslims do we not accept the words of Allah in the Quran and his prophet (pbuh) in his sunnah? Or do you think Islam is only books on how to pray and fast and the rest is nothing but stories to be told? If so, how is Islam sent to govern all of our lives? Did you not see the fate of the people who followed religions which has no system? Religions which are purely ibadaat (private worship) with absolutly no siasaat (politics)? Take a look at Christianity today, what is left of it? When it was in a position of rule it was tyrannical and backward because there were no guidelines on how to rule and thus the Pope had an open hand to do as he wished. Today, Christianity is nothing but a name. Something people label themselves with so that they feel they belong somewhere. Rarely do they attend church, read their Bible or pray to their god. This is the fate of a religion that is not built to rule. As Muhammad (pbuh) is the last prophet, his message should be able to protect and sustain itself.
Abu Bakr is reported to have said, "Muhammad has indeed died. This Deen needs some one to maintain it."
Umar Ibn Al-Khatab said: "There can be no Islam without Jama'a; no Jama'a without an Ameer (leader); and no leadership without obedience."
My dear brothers and sisters, if the above is not enough then our past should answer you. Is the Khilafah nothing more than "going back to horses and tents" as someone once said to me? On what basis would you think so? What I find interesting is that when we had women in the position of lecturers and teachers in the Khilafah, Europe was still wondering whether a woman has any soul; and today it is Islam that people claim to not gives women any rights. When we were at the forefront of technology and arts and poetry, Europe was burning books and scientists at the stake; and today it is Islam that people claim to be backwards. When in Grenada the Jews opened the gates for the Muslims to enter because they knew they will find justice under our rule as compared to the butchering inquisition and forced converstions that they faced after we were forced out; and today it is Islam that people claim to be intolerant.
Of what is happening today in the face of extremists and militants causing alot of trouble in the name of Islam, it would be confusing to a non-Muslim and I realise that. What saddens me is to see Muslims reacting the same way. If anything we are taught of the khulafaah in our schools everyday as it is the only part of our history that we are actually proud of. A Muslim should know better than to confuse the pure Khilafah with the Taliban and their likes. What saddens me is that Muslim don't know what they want when what they're looking for is right there infront of them. Muslims want peace and prosperity as well as to keep their deen, the deen of Allah and his messenger. Would secularism be the solution? And since when did Islam allow man to legislate in everything, making what is haram halal and what is halal haram? That is not to say that you will not have a voice in Islam, that is only to say that you will have a voice on what is mubaah (permissable). To put every single rule of law under the choice of man, even the issues that Allah strictly forbids us or clearly allows us, throws the authority of Islam under the feet of men! By Allah would you accept that?? Would you accept that the day would come when your country will be a copy of that of the West? If it is the same system, then it is inevetible that the same consequences will occur. Would you accept seeing your daughters on Oprah taking DNA tests to know who the father of her child is? Would you accept watching your brothers coming out of a bar in the middle of the night right across the street drunk out of his mind and puking all over the sidewalk? Would you accept seeing your sister walking half naked in the street and if her father trys to stop her she takes him to court? But then you might say, this is not everything in secularism, you are only counting the bad things, what about the great things like a elections and technology? First of all, when you take an ideology to rule you, you take it and everything that comes with it. So you don't get to pick and choose what you want to implement, else it wont be a democracy. Secondly, as I said earlier, Islam provides you with technology and a representative government chosen by the people. Islam provides you with all the benefits and even more, by Allah much much more!
But what can I say? I have shown you through common sense that there is a need for the Khilafah if Islam is to survive. I have shown you that the Khilafah is not an oppresive, intolerent and backward regime. There is so much to say if I am to point all the benefits of the Khilafah, but for this topic, if any Muslim has an opposing oppinion, a comment or a question, then please do write something and I will reply to it as soon as possible. I apologise to non-Muslims this topic is directed to Muslims who don't believe in the Khilafah.
“And rule between them by that which Allah revealed to you and do not follow their whims, and beware that they may deviate you away from even some part of what Allah revealed to you.” [The Holy Quran 5:49]
The Prophet (pbuh) said: "The best of your Imams (leaders) are those whom you love and they love you, who pray for you and you pray for them; and the worst of your Imams are those whom you hate and they hate you and you curse them and they curse you." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked: "Would we not declare war on them (face them with the swords)?" He said: "No, as long as they establish salat (meaning Islam) among you."
